Background

Since 2005, Dr. Herwatic has served in higher education in various capacities around the United States. Her work includes administrative and teaching roles within four-year universities, community colleges, and online institutions. She joined Colorado Technical University as a Lead Faculty in 2019, overseeing Communications and Academic and Career Success courses within the College of General Education and Psychology. In the fall of 2022, she became an Executive Program Director overseeing beginning courses for students within General Education. Before joining CTU, she served at diverse higher education institutions as an administrator within student services and adjunct instructor. Additionally, she has served as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission. Dr. Herwatic’s previous roles focused on student advising, career services, and student success and retention initiatives, specifically with adult learners during the first year of their college education. Her work as an adjunct instructor focused on teaching both college success and writing courses. Student success is her passion, and she believes strongly in the power of higher education to transform lives, communities, and societies at large.

Although originally from Arkansas, she has lived around the country with her husband and two children as her husband serves as an officer in the US Air Force.

Research Interests

Dr. Herwatic’s research interests include student success, student retention, career preparation, servant leadership, and female leadership.
